Remothered Wiki

Bye Sweet Carole is a 2D-animated narrative horror-adventure game directed by Chris Darril and developed by Little Sewing Machine. While unconnected to the Remothered series, the game is considered a spiritual successor to the original Clock Tower and Remothered 2D.

Official summary[]

"Set in the early 1900s, in an age where the phenomenon of the feminist political movement begins to shake the British nation, young girl Lana Benton, guest of the eerie Bunny Hall orphanage, is the only one to suspect that her best friend Carole didn’t just run away. The secret correspondence between Carole and a mysterious “French” pushes Lana to investigate enough to find herself surviving, poised between the real world and the fantastic kingdom of Corolla that, under the cruel influence of the terrifying Mr. Kyn, the insensitive owl Velenia, and the ravenous colonies of tar bunnies, is inexorably perishing."

Characters[]

Development[]

The game was born out of Chris Darril's dissatisfaction from working on Broken Porcelain[1] and is loosely based on the unfinished Remothered 2D prototype that Darril had recovered in 2020.[2] The game originally was meant to be made in the similar style as Remothered 2D, but Darril eventually chose the Disney-inspired hand-drawn artstyle due to his love for traditional animation.[3]

The game was officially announced in September, 2021,[4] alongside Chris Darril's newly founded company Little Sewing Machine that the game would be developed under[5]. The award winning writer Mark Darin joined the development team in early 2022.[6] Several talents who worked with Darril on Remothered, such as Elsie Lovelock and Lani Minella, joined his new project with Luca Balboni also returning as the lead composer for the game.
